How to Change Your Google Password
Changing your password is vital to maintaining account security and should be changed several times a year. But whether you are new and need to change a default password or are resetting a forgotten or old one, here are some steps to change your Google password.
Are you having trouble keeping track of your passwords? Get a password manager, and keep your accounts secure. Recommendations: Dashlane, 1Password, Bitwarden.
1. Sign into your Google account.
2. Click the user icon in the top right corner.
3. Click “Manage your Google account.”
4. Click the Security tab on the left-hand side of the window.
5. Scroll down to “Signing in to Google.”
6. Click on the “Password” section.
7. Sign in with your password and change your password. Do not reuse or alter passwords from other accounts, and in general, attempt to keep all passwords complex and unique.
Criteria for strong passwords: 10 characters or more, both uppercase and lowercase letters, number(s), and at least one special character (e.g., ! @ # ?).
